Dr. Marta Bognar is a board-certified rheumatologist and the founder of the Arthritis Center of North Georgia, bringing more than 25 years of rheumatology experience to the Gainesville community.

Born and raised in Hungary, Dr. Bognar completed her medical degree summa cum laude at Semmelweis University of Medicine in Budapest — the most prestigious medical university in the region. After practicing as an internist for five years, she came to the United States and completed her internal medicine residency at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut, affiliated with Yale University. She then moved to Atlanta, where she completed her rheumatology fellowship at Emory University. In 1997, she began her rheumatology career in Gainesville, and in 1999 she opened her own practice — which endures today as the Arthritis Center of North Georgia.

Dr. Bognar is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in rheumatology. She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, the Georgia Society of Rheumatology — where she has served on the executive board as president — the Metro Atlanta Rheumatology Society, the Medical Association of Georgia, and the Hall County Medical Society.

Her clinical interests include rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, connective tissue diseases, vasculitis, antiphospholipid syndrome, osteoporosis, and gout. She also participates in clinical research studies.

Dr. Bognar lives in Gainesville with her husband, Richard, and their son. Outside of medicine, she enjoys reading, traveling, music, and volunteering at the Good News Health Clinic.
